Job Summary:
The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimizing manufacturing processes within the aerospace industry. This role requires a strong technical background in aerospace engineering and manufacturing, as well as exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills. The Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful production of aerospace components and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement manufacturing strategies and processes for aerospace products, ensuring efficient production and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
2. Analyze, evaluate, and optimize manufacturing methods, tools, and equipment to improve production efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
3. Collaborate with design engineers to provide manufacturing input during product development, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) considerations.
4. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process control plans.
5. Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to determine the manufacturability of new aerospace components and systems.
6. Identify and troubleshoot manufacturing issues, implementing appropriate corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure on-time delivery.
7. Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for manufacturing processes.
8. Lead continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing lean manufacturing principles and tools to drive operational excellence and enhance overall productivity.
9. Train and mentor manufacturing technicians and operators on new processes, equipment, and technologies.
10. Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in aerospace manufacturing to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in aerospace manufacturing engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry.
3. In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, composites, and additive manufacturing.
4. Strong understanding of aerospace materials, including metals, alloys, and composite materials.
5. Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and manufacturing simulation tools.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical manufacturing issues.
7. Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO standards and AS9100.
8. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools, with a track record of implementing process improvements.
9. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
